We submitted the local plan part 2 to the Secretary of State on 17 June 2022. The Inspector has issued:

  • examination guidance
  • a hearing programme
  • a list of matters and questions

Local Plan: Development Management Policies (Local Plan Part 2) Examination

We submitted the local plan part 2 to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on 17 June 2022. The Secretary of State appointed a planning inspector to examine the Local Plan Part 2.

The Inspector will assess whether the plan:

The Inspector will consider:

  • the evidence to support the plan
  • any representations put forward by local people and other interested parties

They will then produce a report recommending whether we can adopt the plan or if changes need to be made. These changes are known as 'main modifications'.

Who is the programme officer?

We have appointed Robert Young as the Programme Officer for the examination. He is an independent officer of the examination. He works under the direction of the Inspector. You can submit queries on the Examination to the Programme Officer.

We will add them here as they are published.

The hearing sessions of the Examination will start at 10:00am on Tuesday 15 November 2022. They will be in the Council Chamber, Millmead House, Guildford, GU2 4BB.

Key dates:

  • Friday 30 September 2022- Deadline for representors to confirm participation in hearings
  • Friday 21 October 2022- Deadline for submission of Council and participants' hearing statements
  • Tuesday 15 November 2022- Examination hearings start
