Free air quality alerts
We've joined the airTEXT service that sends free air pollution alerts and provides health advice for residents and visitors.
It is especially valuable for people who may be more sensitive to pollution, including those with asthma, COPD, heart or lung conditions, or if pregnant, a child, or older adult.
The service is designed to send alerts when air pollution levels are expected to reach moderate or high in your area. It also provides local three-day forecasts.

Alerts for different areas can be selected depending on where you live or work.

Why sign up
Air pollution levels can rise during hot, sunny weather in summer and during cold, still conditions in winter.
These periods, known as pollution episodes, can last for two or three days.
While pollution episodes are uncommon in our borough, they can have a significant impact on people with lung and heart conditions, older people and young children.
Receiving alerts can help you plan ahead by adjusting outdoor activities, choosing different travel routes, managing medication and dressing appropriately for weather and environmental conditions.
