Cooling towers - workplace health and safety
Where non-domestic premises have evaporative cooling towers, there is a legal requirement for these devices to be registered with us. We must also be informed if any changes are made, or any of these devices are removed.
The purpose of this registration is to enable us to monitor the preventative measures for Legionella bacteria becoming established. Legionella pneumophila bacteria are known to produce flu-like symptoms which can be fatal in some circumstances.
