Review of Local Plan underway

We put together the Local Plan back in 2019. Since then, things have changed around our borough. By law, we need to take a look at the plan every five years. So, it's time for us to check if the plan needs updating because of these changes.

On 4 December, our Joint Executive Advisory Board (EAB) will discuss what review of our Local Plan (Strategy and Sites from 2019) will cover.

The formal review of the Local Plan will then follow. A report to Full Council is scheduled for February 2024.

Based on the reviews outcome, we'll determine whether any updates of the Local Plan are needed. If there is an update, the existing Plan does not become redundant. It will remain the primary consideration in determining development applications in the borough.

If Full Council agrees an update, we'll prepare a timetable, budget and actions before proceeding. The existing Local Plan would remain in place whilst this process is ongoing.
