New exhibition for the Guildford House Gallery

Our Guildford House Gallery is hosting a solo exhibition by Curtis Holder. Curtis was the winner of:

• the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2020
• the inaugural Guildford House Open Competition

Exhibition: Curtis Holder: Portraits of Brotherhood

• opens on Saturday 6 July
• runs until Saturday 28 September 2024

The exhibition will feature a compelling collection of large-scale figurative drawings. In the face of society's stereotypes it explores:

• identity
• masculinity
• emotion

Visitors can expect to see more than 20 works on paper.

There will be:

• two monumental room-length drawings
• ten large-scale multi-layered portraits 
• a selection of exploratory studies in both coloured and graphite pencil 

Curtis Holder says: ''Behind each drawing lies an unspoken narrative that we share in common."

'We're excited to be hosting this solo show from award-winning artist Curtis Holder. The 2023 winner of the national Guildford House Open contemporary art competition. Especially curated for Guildford House Gallery, this exhibition is sure to be a highlight of our 2024 programme. It should be a treat for all art lovers. I'm looking forward to it. 

"We're also planning a range of activities to take place alongside the exhibition. These will include drawing workshops facilitated by Curtis Holder."

It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4:30pm.
