Find out about Shaping Guildford's Future
We want to make Guildford a thriving place to live work and do business.
Shaping Guildford's Future will, over a period of time, transform the area along the riverside. The river is the town's most significant natural asset and will be the focus for its regeneration programme.
The programme has major benefits for Guildford's community, businesses and environment. It will develop a proactive regeneration strategy to address the economic challenges and physical constraints facing the town.

What will the project deliver?
- Open-up the riverside, making it a focal point for the town
- Create new public spaces and destinations that build upon and relate to both historic and contemporary Guildford
- Attract alternative uses to complement the town's retail economy
- Incorporate and integrate residential uses in the town centre
- An integrated approach to flood protection and alleviation that addresses the risk of flooding

What's happened so far?
- Options have been developed for the Flood Alleviation Scheme with the Environment Agency
- A zonal town centre regeneration plan is in development
