Who can get sheltered housing?

Sheltered housing offers independent living accommodation for people over the age of 60.

You can get sheltered housing accommodation if you can live independently with some support.

We will assess each application, based on our allocation policy and the support each applicant needs.

Dray Court

Dray Court provides independent living accommodation for people over the age of 60.

Location

The court is in Guildford Park, one mile from the town centre. There is a bus stop a short walk from the entrance of the court with a regular service into Guildford. Local shops are in walking distance.

Accommodation

The three storey, centrally-heated building has 61 one-bedroom flats and 10 two-bedroom flats.

Each flat is self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen.

Facilities

  • well-equipped laundry with washing machines, outside lines and tumble dryers
  • two lifts
  • hairdressing visits once a week (appointment only)
  • communal adapted shower rooms for those unable to use a bath

Social activities

  • Age UK computer club Monday to Friday, 10am to 12pm
  • Age Uk Computer Classes by appointment only. To book call 01483 503414
  • art class Monday 4pm to 5pm
  • Bingo and other Social events run by the Dray Court Social Club

Millmead Court

Millmead Court sheltered housing is owned by Guildford Borough Council and provides accommodation for older people over the age of 60.

Location

The court is close to the river Wey and within walking distance of the town centre. It's close to the train station and bus station.

Accommodation

The building has three storeys and is centrally-heated. It has 25 single studio apartments, plus a one-bedroom flat and a two-bedroom flat.

The studio apartments have a bed/sitting room, fitted kitchen and bathroom or shower room.

The flats are self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen.

Facilities

  • well-equipped laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers
  • one lift

Support services

A Guildford Borough Council independent living officer is usually available for 18 hours a week between the hours:

  • Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 5pm and;
  • Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (excluding bank holidays)

The staff visitor is on call for emergencies outside of these hours.

St Martha's Court

St Martha's Court sheltered housing is owned by Guildford Borough Council and provides accommodation for older people over the age of 60.

Location

The court is in Chilworth and is four miles south east of Guildford on the A284. A bus stop is within easy walking distance of the court and buses run every 30 minutes to Guildford. Chilworth has a general store a few minutes' walk away.

Accommodation

The two-storey, centrally-heated building has 37 one-bedroom flats, which are self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen.

Facilities

  • six lifts within the court
  • well-equipped laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers
  • communal shower room with disabled bathing facilities
  • prescription collection and delivery service

St Martins Court

Location

The court is in East Horsley and is approximately nine miles east of Guildford on the A246. There is a bus stop a short walk from the entrance to the court with regular and direct routes to Guildford and Leatherhead. There are a few shops within walking distance. The main village is a short drive away with various shops, including a pharmacy and one bank.

Accommodation

The two-storey, centrally-heated building has 30 one-bedroom flats and one flat with three bedrooms.

Each flat is self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen.

  • hairdressing salon open one day a week

  • communal adapted shower rooms for those unable to use a bath

Tarragon Court

Location

Tarragon Court is near Worplesdon on the A322, about two miles north of Guildford town centre.

There are bus stops opposite the court with frequent services into Guildford, to the Tesco superstore, and the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

A small supermarket is a few minutes' walk away from the court.

Accommodation

The two-storey, centrally-heated building has 37 studio apartments and two flats with two bedrooms.

Each studio apartment has a bed/sitting room with a bay window, separate fitted kitchen and bathroom.

Japonica Court

Japonica Court sheltered housing is owned by Guildford Borough Council and provides accommodation for older people over the age of 60.

Location

The court is in the village of Ash, approximately two miles from Aldershot and 10 miles from Guildford.

There is a bus stop opposite the court with a regular service into Aldershot.

Ash railway station is a ten-minute car journey.

Accommodation

The three storey, centrally-heated building has 48 one-bedroom flats and 13 two-bedroom flats.

Each flat is self-contained with a bathroom and kitchen.

Facilities

  • well-equipped laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers
  • three lifts
  • hairdressing salon open twice a week by appointment only
  • one communal shower rooms for those unable to use a bath

Social activities provided by the Social club:

  • occasional evening activities run by tenants
