Take part in a landmark Government consultation on proposals to replace Surrey's current councils with up to three larger authorities. We support a three unitary approach - Find out more and read our consultation question guide.

Join us for a special online engagement session hosted by the Leaders of Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils on Thursday 3 July from 7pm to 8pm via Microsoft Teams. Equality in employment - staff consultation

We have the following arrangements for consultation with staff:

Union - Unison is the trade union which is recognised by the Council. Its panel of four key representatives meet with the Head of HR (Human Resources) monthly and with the Chief Executive on a quarterly basis. They are consulted on all major staffing issues.

Staff forum - this is a group of representatives from all the service areas who have been elected by their colleagues. They meet quarterly with the Head of HR and Chief Executive. They are consulted alongside the union to ensure that the views of staff who are not union members are adequately represented.

Equality consultation groups - there are three equality consultation groups: race, gender and disability. These comprise staff with a particular interest in or knowledge of that protected group. They are consulted on full equality impact assessments and all relevant issues.
