Housing services update

We're issuing an update on our housing maintenance service and the contracts we manage. We've been working diligently to understand the extent of the situation, including governance, finance and contract management.

In line with our commitment to transparency we have key updates to share.

As part of this ongoing review, we have terminated one of our housing contractors and started a new tender exercise to appoint a different contractor.

We're also updating contracts with our existing suppliers to ensure we are delivering the best service to our residents and best value to the council.

How long will this take?

Housing services colleagues are working hard and following correct procedures to bring our service provision back up to speed.

for the terminated supplier works, we now need to carry out a full tender process to replace the terminated supplier. Once this tender process is completed, works should start six to nine months later
for the current suppliers updated contracts, it will take approximately three months to put these in place

We understand this may be a frustrating time and we're making sure we keep those affected updated as much as we can.

What does this mean?

All planned works will continue, but there may be delays to some of this work while we secure new contracts. Our customer services team will telephone those affected by this situation to ensure they are kept regularly updated.

Please be assured that day-to-day work such as emergency repairs will not be affected.

Keeping tenants safe

Housing services are also currently undertaking an independent programme of electrical testing to ensure that wiring and installations in our properties are in safe working order.
