The Mayor launches adult charity football tournament

We're thrilled to announce the upcoming adult charity football tournament. It will take place on Sunday 2 June 2024. The tournament, sponsored by Martin Grant Homes, aims to raise funds for the Mayor 's charity of the year, The Fountain Centre.

Who can take part?

We invite teams from all walks of life to sign up for this inclusive six-a-side adult tournament. Men's, women's, and walking football teams are all encouraged to register. You'll be competing for the prestigious Mayor's Cup and Mayor's Plate.

To ensure a diverse event, squads of up to ten players are welcome to join the competition. Make sure you register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

When and where is the tournament?

The event kicks off at 10:00 am at Stoughton Recreation Ground, Fentum Road, Guildford, GU2 9SA. It will end at 3:00 pm following the champion's ceremony.

What else will be happening on the day?

This event is about more than just football. It's a celebration of community. Alongside the exhilarating matches, family and friends can enjoy a range of family friendly activities. On the day:

  • Chelsea FC Foundation will be on hand to take budding footballers through their paces
  • climb aboard a fire engine and chat with Surrey Fire and Rescue firefighters
  • there'll be a bouncy castle for kids bursting with energy
  • there'll be creative face painting

Where will the money raised go?

The money raised will help The Fountain Centre (opens new window) continue supporting cancer patients and their loved ones through a cancer diagnosis.

What else do teams need to know?

  • all participants must be over the age of 18 to take part in the tournament.
  • the cost to enter a squad of ten people is £100.
  • teams must register before midnight on 26 May 2024
  • the Tournament Committee reserve the right to accept or reject any application.
