Continuing to deliver for residents, communities and businesses

More support for residents and local businesses, improved Housing Services and action on climate change are among the achievements highlighted in our latest Delivery Plan Progress Report. The report sets out the progress made across our five corporate priorities during 2025/26 and the first half of 2026/27.  

The report outlines how a wide range of projects and improvements that support our ambition to create a greener, fairer and thriving Guildford are being delivered. Key achievements include reducing council greenhouse gas emissions by 18% since 2019, supporting 65 local businesses in partnership with IncuHive, hosting 35 community and commercial events during the first half of 2026/27, and achieving the highest possible C1 Consumer Standards grading for Housing Services.  

The report also highlights the completion of the new Weyside Depot, the adoption of a new Social Value Strategy and Action Plan, Green Flag Awards for Castle Grounds and Stoke Park, and issuing a timetable for the new Local Plan. 

Leader of Guildford Borough Council, Cllr Julia McShane, said:  

"This report gives a clear picture of the progress we are making and the difference that our work is making for our residents, communities and businesses. From supporting local businesses, to reducing our environmental impact and improving Housing Services, we continue to make progress across the priorities that matter most to people.  

"The data shows strong progress across our priorities. Of the 38 actions due by the end of Quarter 2 (September 2026), 16 have now been completed, a further nine are on track and 11 remain in progress. We want residents to see both what has been achieved so far and where work is continuing, as we remain focused on achieving the commitments set out in our Delivery Plan.  

"Our commitment to the people living and working here in Guildford remains as strong as ever as we enter the final stages of Guildford Borough Council and prepare for Local Government Reorganisation. We are determined to leave a positive legacy for our borough by continuing to improve our services, invest in our communities and deliver the projects that make a real difference in people's lives, to ensure that Guildford remains a brilliant place to live, work and do business for years to come."
