Housing options - find a home

Find out about our housing options.

Council and housing association properties

We advertise council and housing association properties through the Guildford Homechoice website.

Due to a shortage of council and housing association properties, there are more households on the register than properties available. This means you may face a long wait before you receive an accommodation offer. See our latest figures showing how many people were housed and how many are on the register on our Housing facts and figures page.

Unfortunately, many on the council's housing register may never receive an offer. This means you may need to explore other housing solutions, which may be faster and meet your needs.

If your housing need is urgent there are organisations that can offer you advice and support, including the council's housing advice centre (see contact details below), specialist housing advisers based at the Citizens Advice or Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity. An adviser will go through your personal situation with you to help you decide what the best options for you are.

If you are already on the housing register, watch our video below on tips on how to be successfully allocated a property.
