Housing Strategy 2015-20

We are pleased to introduce the  icon Guildford Borough Housing Strategy 2015-20, [4.5MB] which sets out our ambitions for housing, and how we intend to achieve them. After a lengthy consultation process, which started in July 2014 with Guildford residents and stakeholders, the new Strategy was adopted by the Council in February 2015.

While the Local Plan will deal with spatial development for the borough up to 2031, including infrastructure, the Housing Strategy 2015-20 concentrates on affordable housing and the use and quality of existing homes, with a focus on what can be achieved in the next five years.

Responses to the many comments received during the consultation can be read in our  icon Housing Strategy 2015-20 Consultation Responses Summary. [784.73KB] Our thanks to everyone who gave their views on the Housing Strategy.

Rural housing

As part of our Housing Strategy and Rural Economic Strategy, we are supporting the delivery of affordable housing on rural exception sites., we are supporting the delivery of affordable housing on rural exception sites. Rural exception sites are small plots of agricultural land that can be used for housing. Our goal is to provide rural affordable housing for the local community to help families stay together and prevent the loss of local services. Watch our video to find out more about rural housing.
