Stoke New Cemetery

Stoke cemetery

Stoke New Cemetery opened in 1939. The cemetery has toilet facilities and houses the cemetery office, to the right of the main entrance. The cemetery has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award.

This part of the cemetery is home to a Commonwealth War Graves section for fallen soldiers from the Second World War.

Memorial vaults for cremated remains are also available at Stoke Cemetery. Use our online enquiry form if you need more information.

Stoke Old Cemetery

The old cemetery houses a Commonwealth War Graves Memorial that overlooks the graves of fallen soldiers and a beautiful memorial bench commemorating those lost in the First and Second World Wars.

The chapel

In the grounds of the old cemetery is a grade II listed chapel. It opened in 1883 and seats approximately 20 people.

Cemetery fees

The cemetery fees apply only where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before his or her death was, a resident of Guildford or in the case of a stillborn child, where one parent is, or at the time of interment was, a resident. All fees are double in respect of non-residents.

Directions to Stoke Cemeteries

From M25

Exit at Junction 10 onto the A3 Guildford southbound dual carriageway.
Turn off onto the A320 signposted for Guildford and Woking.
End of slip road turn right at the traffic light heading towards Woking.
Roundabout straight over still heading towards Woking.
Next roundabout, turn left into Stoughton Road.
Follow the road over the mini roundabout and just before the traffic lights the cemetery is situated in the right hand side.

From A3 - northbound

Take left turn off A3 dual carriageway at the 'Wooden Bridge' junction. Signposted A322 Guildford and Bagshot.
At end of slip road roundabout take the first exit onto the A322 heading towards Bagshot (Worplesdon Road).
At the traffic lights, go straight over.
Next set of traffic lights turn right into Stoughton Road.
Another set of traffic lights straight over.
Over the railway bridge and the cemetery is on your left hand side.

From A31 - Farnham direction

Follow the A31 to where it joins the A3.
Take left turn off A3 dual carriageway at the 'Wooden Bridge' junction. Signposted A322 Guildford and Bagshot.
At the end of the slip road roundabout take the first exit onto the A422 heading towards Bagshot (Worplesdon Road).
Traffic lights straight over.
Next set of traffic lights turn right into Stoughton Road.
Another set of traffic lights straight over.
Over the railway bridge and the cemetery is on your left hand side.

Apply to exhume human remains

You must apply for a licence to remove buried human remains (or cremated remains) (opens new window) from a grave or memorial. Get in touch with bereavement services team before you complete the application.
