Have your say on the future of local councils in Surrey

Take part in a landmark Government consultation on proposals to replace Surrey's current councils with up to three larger authorities. We support a three unitary approach - Find out more and read our consultation question guide.

Join us for a special online engagement session hosted by the Leaders of Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils on Thursday 3 July from 7pm to 8pm via Microsoft Teams. We'll explain what Local Government Reorganisation is, outline the different options being considered, and show you how to get involved. Sign up for the session (opens new window).

Find out about charitable collection licences

House to house collections

If your collection is from door to door, shop to shop or pub to pub, then it needs a house to house collections permit.

  • you must apply if you are a small charity
  • you must apply if you are a group, eg scouts, girl guides
  • collections must be licensed whether it is to collect cash, direct debit, or donations of household goods, clothing, other items
  • collections carried out by commercial companies, where some of the revenue is donated to charity, must also be licensed

Will tacit consent apply?

Yes. We have a target completion period of 21 days for this notice. This means if you have not heard from us by the end of this period you can act as though your application is granted.

Apply

To apply online you must either register or login to the portal to access the forms.
We advise you read House to House Collections Regulations (PDF, 17 KB) before making your application.

Applications should be made at least 28 days before the collection date. A return form must be submitted within one month of the completion of the collection. The maximum period this licence will last for is one year.
