Burpham Neighbourhood Area Consultation
From 14 September to 26 October 2012, we consulted on:
- the proposed Burpham Neighbourhood Area
- the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum

We designated the Burpham Neighbourhood Area and Burpham Neighbourhood Forum on 4 February 2013.
From 2 June to 14 July 2014, the Forum consulted on a draft neighbourhood plan. It considered the comments received and produced a final version of the plan to submit.
Neighbourhood Plan consultation and examination
From 30 March until 15 May 2015, we consulted on the plan and appointed an independent examiner. The examination took place in July and early August 2015. The examiner recommended residents of the Burpham neighbourhood area should have a referendum on an amended version of the plan.
On 7 October 2015, we accepted the examiner's recommendations.

Burpham Neighbourhood Plan referendum
On 18 February 2016, the referendum was held. Residents of the Burpham Neighbourhood Area who were able to vote in Council elections were able to vote in the referendum. A majority voted 'Yes' to the following question:
Do you want Guildford Borough Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Burpham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

Burpham Neighbourhood Forum re-designation 2018
On 4 February 2018, the designation of the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum expired (five years from the date it was designated, in line with legislation).
On 18 April 2018, we re-designated the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum following a six-week consultation. This designation expired on 18 April 2023.

Burpham Neighbourhood Forum re-designation and modification of Burpham Neighbourhood Area boundary 2023
The ward boundary for Burpham changed on May 4 2023. This did not affect the boundary of the neighbourhood area or the area covered by the neighbourhood plan.
On 14 August 2023, we received an application from the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum to:
- modify the neighbourhood area boundary so that it matches the new ward boundary, and
- designate a new neighbourhood forum.
We consulted on the proposals (opens new window) from 30 August to 12 October 2023 and designated the new Burpham Neighbourhood Area and Burpham Neighbourhood Forum on 13 October 2023. This does not change the area where the Burpham Neighbourhood Plan 2016 applies.
