Neighbourhood planning in Effingham - more information

Effingham neighbourhood area consultation 

We consulted on the proposed Effingham Neighbourhood Area between 1 February and 14 March 2012 and designated it on 4 April 2013. Check the following documents: 

On 4 April 2014 we designated the Effingham Neighbourhood Area. 

From 6 May to 18 July 2016, Effingham Parish Council consulted on a draft version of the neighbourhood plan. It considered the comments received and produced a final version of the plan for submission. 

Effingham Neighbourhood Plan consultation and examination 

On 3 March 2017, Effingham Parish Council submitted the plan to us. 

From 20 March to 30 April 2017, we consulted on the plan and appointed an independent examiner. Read the  representations we received (PDF) [145KB]  and  our statement for the examiner (PDF) [309KB] . The examination took place from June to September 2017. The examiner recommended residents of the Effingham Neighbourhood Area should vote on an amended version of the plan in a referendum. 

We accepted the examiner's recommendations.

Effingham Neighbourhood Plan referendum 

On 22 February 2018 residents of the Effingham neighbourhood area voted on the Neighbourhood Plan in a referendum. A majority voted 'Yes' to the following question: 

Do you want Guildford Borough Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Effingham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area? 

We adopted the Effingham Neighbourhood Plan on 10 April 2018.
