Bin collections

Due to the high temperatures forecasted, our bin crews will be starting collections earlier than usual to help keep them safe in the heat. Please make sure your bins are out the night before, as collections will take place from 6.00am for the rest of the week. Thank you for helping our crews work safely during the hot weather.

Upcoming Public Information Events

National Highways have been closely monitoring roadside nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) concentrations along the A3 as it passes through Guildford between A31 Farnham Road and the Dennis Roundabout/Wooden Bridge junction. The monitoring shows areas of poor air quality have reduced, and currently only sections of footway next to the east side of the A3 carriageway (approximately A31 junction to Egerton Road) remain above the legal threshold.

Following a detailed review of options, National Highways are proposing to close these sections of footway until air quality improves and re-direct people to alternative routes. The crossing points across the A3 carriageway will be unaffected. Before closing these sections of footway, they plan to upgrade alternative routes to improve accessibility and surfacing. We're working with them and Surrey County Council to help develop designs for these improvements.

National Highways hosted 2 public information events on Tuesday 4 and Thursday 6 March for people to find out more about these proposed changes:

Following this public engagement, National Highways will continue to develop these proposals in detailed design. They will then seek a Traffic Regulation Order to close the footway.
