New parking payment machines installed in Guildford's car parks

The new machines are now live and offer a wider range of payment options, including:
card,
contactless,
cash
and app payments, giving customers greater choice when paying for their parking.
It comes in response to feedback from residents and visitors, who asked for more convenient payment methods to be made available.
As part of these upgrades, we've retained the option to pay by cash in all car parks, as some visitors still prefer to use this method.
This project has been delivered while keeping most car parks open as normal, minimising disruption. With the new equipment now fully operational, drivers can expect:
More payment options: including card, contactless, cash and app options.
Improved reliability: the new machines are easier to use, more reliable and cheaper to maintain. This helps provide a better service for users and visitors.
Faster transactions: making parking more convenient.
Accessibility enhancements: bigger, clearer screens with easier to use interfaces.
ANPR and Ticketless: for a more flexible and streamlined parking experience.
Cllr Vanessa King, Lead Councillor for Economy and Place at Guildford Borough Council, said:
"We know how important choice is when it comes to paying for parking. We've listened to what customers have told us and delivered upgrades that give them more options and a much smoother parking experience.
"This work is about making everyday journeys simpler and ensuring our car parks are modern, accessible and fit for the future - while still keeping cash as an option for those who prefer it."
"I'm delighted that these upgrades to our parking payment machines are now completed."
