Hot weather

The Met Office (opens new window) has forecast hot weather across Guildford. Read our advice during hot weather.

Bin collections

Due to the high temperatures, our bin crews will be starting collections earlier than usual to help keep them safe in the heat. Please make sure your bins are out the night before, as collections will take place from 5.30am for the rest of the week. Thank you for helping our crews work safely during the hot weather.

Apply for a medical exemption

The equality act places certain responsibilities on taxi drivers whilst they are carrying disabled passengers. In some cases taxi drivers may be exempt from fulfilling these duties. You can apply for an exemption from:

  • carrying an assistance dog
  • being a driver of a wheelchair accessible vehicle

To apply you need to prove why we should issue an exemption. This should be a medical reason. Your registered doctor must complete the relevant section of the application form. Your application will then be sent to our medical consultants. If we grant an exemption certificate this needs to be clearly on display in your vehicle whenever you are working. It needs to be removed when you are not driving the vehicle.

We aim to make a decision on your application within 10 working days.
