Moving a business or opening a business in Guildford borough

If you are:

  • starting a new business with premises
  • moving your business to a new premises
  • opening new premises

You will need to provide us with some details so we can set up your business rates account and issue you with a bill.

We cannot inform your previous council if you have moved premises. Visit their website to find out how you can report your move. You must close your business rates account with them. You can find the website of your old council by inputting the postcode of your old premises on the gov.uk website.

You may also be due a refund, if the amount you have paid this year is more than you needed to pay.

What we'll need you to tell us:

  • the name of the company and your contact details
  • the date you started occupying your new premises
  • the date you started renting, or the date you purchased the property
