How to pay your council tax
The Council's preferred methods of payment are Direct Debit and debit card.
There are a number of ways you can pay your council tax:
The easiest, most efficient way to pay - let the Council do all the work for you. Payment is requested from your bank on the 2nd of the month, or the nearest working day if the 2nd falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday. To help keep costs (and your council tax) low and avoid the extra expense of setting up new payment arrangements at the beginning of the next financial year, it is important that your current instruction is not cancelled when the final instalment has been collected each year. You can download the Direct Debit mandate then print and return it to the Council using the address below.
Pay online using your debit/credit card. An additional fee is charged for all credit card payments. There is no fee for debit card payments.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0330 123 0081 using your debit/credit card. An additional fee is charged for all credit card payments.
In post offices
You will need to complete a Transcash payment slip and quote the Credit Account number 443 9805 along with your council tax account number. Please note that the post office will charge you an additional fee for each transaction.
