I've received a council tax reminder

If you do not pay your council tax bill, we will send you a reminder letter. The letter will tell you the amount you have to pay to bring your account up-to-date.

You must pay the amount shown on the bill within seven days of the date on the reminder. If you still fail to make the payment, a summons to court is likely to be issued.

If you pay the first reminder letter and fail to pay a further month's instalment, we will send you a second reminder letter.

Again, you must pay this within seven days of the date shown on the reminder. If not, further action will be taken.

We will send a maximum of two reminders in a tax year if you do not pay on time.

Final notice and cancellation of instalments

If you have paid two previous reminder notices but do not pay for a third time, your right to pay by instalments will be cancelled. The balance of the account to the end of the tax year must then be paid.

You must pay the amount shown on the notice within seven days of the date shown on the notice. If you do not pay the amount due, a summons to court will be issued.

Do not ignore a reminder letter or final notice letter. If you cannot pay, call 0330 1230081 or email
